The title for this conference borrows from Gregory Bateson¹s definition of information as "a difference that makes a difference." The question for systems researchers and practitioners is, "what difference are we making?"

2008/08 CfP deadline, ANZSYS, Perth, December 1-2, 2008

This is a preliminary notice to announce that ANZSYS will be held in 1-2 December, 2008 at the Mount Lawley campus of Edith Cowan University in Perth. I would appreciate it if you could circulate this information. At the moment little has been decided except the dates and the venue but with preliminary discussions it appears that the closing date for papers will be in late August. We will be holding ANZSYS at the same time as our security conferences but ANZSYS will be distinct from them - it just makes logistical sense to do it this way.

2007/11/30 abstract deadline for PICMET 2008/07/28-31 Capetown, South Africa

As you may know, PICMET'08 (Portland International Center for Management of Engineering and Technology) Conference will be held at the Westin Grand Hotel (currently named Arabella Sheraton, but changing its name to Westin) in Cape Town, South Africa on July 27-31. The theme is "Technology Management for a Sustainable Economy".

Emphasis will be placed on both manufacturing and service sectors. There will be a special focus on energy. Detailed information about the conference is available at www.picmet.org.
